Gothamie Weerakoon
Gothamie Weerakoon PhD is a botanist, lichenologist, and environmentalist, notable for the discovery of many South Asian lichen species. A scientific affiliate of the Field Museum of Chicago, she has collaborated with the National Geographic Society USA, the Natural Histrory Museum of London and the National Botanical Gardens of Sri Lanka. A specialist in the taxonomy of the lichen family Graphidaceae, Dr. Weerakoon has authored over 25 publications on Lichen taxonomy, conservation, ecology and systematics, aside from developing a pioneering onliine lichen key and app 'Discovering Lichens in Sri Lanka' in 2015 with the support of Universita degli Studi di Trieste, Italy.
Dilmah Conservation was initiated in 2007 by Dilmah to incorporate environmental conservation efforts into the MJF Charitable Foundation, which focuses on social justice.
